💡Wednesday's Learning Lab | Preparing for the New Year

Published 4 months ago • 2 min read

Hey Reader,

I hope you are enjoying your December break with your family and friends. This is the time of year when most of us are extremely reflective.

Maybe you had some resolutions that you are reviewing to see how close you were to achieving them.

Maybe you set some goals that you're assessing to see if you hit or missed the mark.

Maybe you've already planned for the upcoming year and now you're organizing that closet or pantry to purge those items that don't serve you anymore.

Whatever the case, counting today there are five (5) days left in 2023 and we are about to embark upon a new year.

As you prepare for the new year, I want to stress the importance of focusing on both business strategy and mindset.

Here are a few actionable tips to help you get results:

🎯 Reflect and Set Clear Goals

  • Reflect on the Past Year: Take time to review your past year's achievements and challenges.
  • Set Specific Goals: Define clear, measurable objectives for your business and personal growth in the new year.
  • Recommendation: Set only 3-5 goals for the year. Make sure that these goals are tied to a strong "why". Watch Simon Sinek's Start with Why.

🌐 Enhance Your Online Presence

  • Update Digital Footprints: Refresh your website and social media profiles with current achievements and services.
  • Create Value-Driven Content: Engage your audience with insightful blog posts, webinars, or social media content.
  • Recommendation: Pick 1-2 days per week to batch-create social media content. Use ChatGPT to assist you with topics and post ideas. It is important to note that ChatGPT is not always accurate so be sure to fact-check before posting information related to statistics and research.

🧠 Cultivate a Growth Mindset

  • Embrace Continuous Learning: Invest in self-education through reading, online courses, or networking.
  • Adopt a Positive Approach: View challenges as opportunities for growth and adaptability.
  • Recommendations: Here are a few books I recommend related to cultivating a growth mindset as a business owner.
    • We Should All Be Millionaires by Rachel Rodgers is a transformative book that challenges conventional beliefs about wealth and success. It offers practical advice and empowering strategies, specifically for women, on how to break financial barriers and build lasting wealth, blending personal anecdotes with actionable steps for financial success.
    • Be Obsessed or Be Average by Grant Cardone is a motivational guide that encourages readers to channel their passion and energy into achieving extraordinary success in all areas of life. Cardone challenges the stigma around obsession, advocating for its power to drive ambition, focus, and results far beyond the realm of average.
    • The 12 Week Year by Brian Moran and Michael Lennington introduces a revolutionary approach to goal setting and productivity, advocating a shift from annual to 12-week planning cycles. This method aims to increase efficiency, focus, and results by creating a sense of urgency and clarity, enabling individuals and teams to accomplish more in 12 weeks than others do in 12 months.

Hey Reader, This past Monday, I had the privilege of sharing how to plan for the upcoming year with some amazing educators during an online masterclass. I have to admit that the Q&A at the end was the best part. It gave me more data on what those in attendance need to finally set themselves apart from others in this industry of education-based business owners. This is the time of year when most people are reflecting on their goals and wondering what went well and not so well. Reader, I want...
